1. Did You Change Your Air Filters?

Before beginning any other HVAC maintenance tasks, make sure you check your air filter. If it’s dirty, then it’s time to change it! It’s recommended that you change your air filter every month. 

2. Did You Seal Up Your Home?

Air leaks can lead to a great amount of loss in energy and for your AC to run for longer periods of time. Check for air leaks around your windows and doors and make sure to have them sealed! 

3. Did You Clean Your Outdoor Unit?

It’s important to remove any dirty or debris you can to prevent clogs. Make sure there is no vegetation getting near or inside your outdoor unit by trimming branches, using coil cleaner, and pressure washing the exterior. 

4. Did You Clean Your Vents?

If your vent grilles are covered in dirt, then your indoor air quality is likely to worsen over time. To clean your vents and registers, use the brush attachment on your vacuum to remove dust – and then wipe with a damp cloth. 

5. Did You Schedule Your Preventative Maintenance?

There are things you can do yourself, but there are also things that can only be accomplished by a professional. Don’t forget to schedule your preventative maintenance for your heating and cooling equipment every year to keep your equipment running at optimal efficiency.
